COVID-19 Response

In view of the State President’s announcement last week as well as ongoing statements from the World Health Organisation (WHO); Christ Church Pinetown is taking the following precautions. There are certain guidelines to apply, so please read through this statement carefully.

1. Some of us are thought to be most susceptible to serious complications of COVID-19. These include people who:
• Are over age 70
• Young children
• Have cancer
• Have hypertension
• Have lung disease
• Have diabetes
• Have heart disease
• Have another condition that compromises the immune system
• Are taking medications that suppress the immune system

If you have flu-like symptoms (cough, fatigue, fever/chills, headaches, muscle or body aches, runny or stuffy nose, sore throat) please do the loving thing for yourself and others and stay home and get better.

2. Sunday Services are on HOLD Until Further Notice.

In order to stay connected as a church family on a MISSION during this time, we will be taking the following measures:

(i) We will try to LIVE STREAM our weekly service at 9 am on Sunday on the Christ Church Pinetown Facebook Page or give you the link to the LIVE STREAM of one of the other REACH church services. Even though many of you will not physically be at church, you can join the service virtually (on line). The sermon will also be available online the day after the service. We are still exploring these options and are yet to test them out. Please bear with us as we do this. We will provide a sense of direction on Friday, the 20th of March 2020 as well as keep you updated going forward.

(ii) The ministry team will be writing a Daily Devotional twice a week that will be published on our Facebook page and CCP Family WhatsApp groups. They will also be available on the website.

(iii) The Pastoral Team, Church Council, Musicians and the Sound Desk Team will be at church this Sunday to administer the service and ensure that all the admin and logistics around recording or live streaming will be done effectively as well as to accommodate those who may have not received this notice and for any new faces.

3. Your Tithe and Financial Support for the Gospel Work of CCP:

We still encourage you to give financially to the work of the Lord. Although our services may look a little different over the next few weeks, please do not stop supporting the Lord’s work. You can either EFT (electronic funds transfer) or Drop It Off at the Church Office during the week. If these options are not possible for you and you normally tithe in cash please keep these monies aside until the reopening of our normal church services.

4. Worldwidethere are currently 198,739 confirmed cases* and 7,989 deaths from the COVID-19 outbreak as of March 18, 2020, 07:01 GMT. South Africa now has 116 confirmed cases. I have included these stats not to scare you, but to remind you of the severity of this threat. Our CCP Team will continue to update you should anything change. We are committed to knowing Jesus and making Him known, regardless of COVID-19. He still remains sovereign. He is not surprised by the latest developments. He is always in control. With this in mind, to God be the glory alone.

Should you have any queries or concerns relating to our church gathering, please contact the church office on 031 702 0815 during office hours (8am to 4pm). Alternatively, you can send an email to

*This figure therefore includes deaths and recovered or discharged patients (total cumulative count)

“We Praise And Thank Our Lord God Almighty And Father Of Our Lord Jesus Christ, The Father Of All Mercies And God Of All Comfort, Who Comforts Us In All Our Affliction, So That We May Be Able To Comfort Those Who Are In Any Affliction, With The Comfort With Which We Ourselves Are Comforted By God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-5).
